ABOUT THE COLLECTION
This my private collection of Indonesian contemporary art is built on personal conviction rather than an attempt to represent Indonesian art comprehensively. It is not defined by a single movement, generation, medium, or market trend.
Many of the works reflect personal identity, cultural memory, and social tension. This collection develops through both intention and discovery. Some acquisitions strengthen themes, while others introduce contrast for an unfamiliar visual language. Not every work needs to reinforce what came before. The aim is to build a collection coherent enough to express a distinct point of view, while remaining open enough to question its own assumptions.
I see collecting as an act of individual judgment. Art-historical context, scholarship, provenance, and an artist’s practice all matter, but they do not replace the direct encounter with the artwork itself. Market recognition and critical reputations may change over time, but the collection is intended to exist independently of those cycles.
This collection focuses primarily on Indonesian modern and contemporary art, with particular attention to artists and works that explore human experience, vernacular visual culture, social observation, and psychologically charged imagery.
