Description
This print captures the atmosphere of Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. The work assembles a dense visual narrative of news, slogans, and everyday struggles, but at its core it tells the story of phenomena in his village where villagers selling their farmland and livestock just to afford smartphones, so their children could continue schooling online. In Ucup’s eyes, the ‘future’ had shifted into the cell shop, a sharp commentary on technology, inequality, and survival in a time of crisis
